Individuals and Cohorts

The individuals in this study belong to three of the main population-based Brazilian cohorts: Salvador (n=1309), Bambui (n=1442) and Pelotas (n=3736), from Northeast, Southeast and Southern Brazil respectively. They have collected data of clinical and biomedical interest for more than 10 years for each of the participants.

The project comprises the 1982 Pelotas birth cohort study, the Bambui cohort study of ageing , and the Salvador-Scaala study. The Epigen protocol was approved by Brazil's national research ethics committee, the Conselho Nacional de Ética em Pesquisa (CONEP, resolution number 15895, Brasília).
